I played Ticket To Ride and Settlers of Catan. The latter is overrated drastically.

Well, Settlers was hugely influential in the modern boardgame movement... but yeah, it doesn't hold up very well. I'd still be glad if it replaced Monopoly as the one boardgame everyone knows, that'd be a vast improvment. Ticket to Ride on the other hand, is the best gateway game there is.

Yea, Settlers is a gateway drug into the wonderful world of Eurogames, but it's not very good.

My girlfriend got my sister the board game version of the Oregon Trail, which is apparently very fun but also very difficult.

Has anyone played Mad Gab? That's been one of my favorite games as of recent.

Belated Holiday wishes to everyone here! I've been away from the boards a few days for the holidays with family. Love all the board game talk!

We got my brother-in-law a Hogwarts Co-op deck building game which was a lot of fun! Recommended for HP/game fans. He got us a game called Codenames. We haven't played it yet, but will have to soon.

And the same to you Corndog ! Codenames is very good, a worthy Spiel des Jahres winner (the boardgame equivalent of Best Picture for those not in the know). Heard good things about that HP coop game, but it's apparently a US-only thing for weird rights issues, which is somewhat annoying.

I also got Codenames for Christmas, and I played it with friends the other night. We played for four hours straight and never got bored. It seems almost perfectly crafted for infinite replayability, and it changes with every group. Really fun and clever, just the right degree of stress and fun as both a giver and a guesser.

Other things I got:

Blus:
Miyazaki Blu ray box set
The Thing (Shout Factory)
Return of the Living Dead (SF)
The Exorcist III (SF)
Carrie (SF)
Kubo and the Two Strings
The Hollow Crown: The War of the Roses
Game of Thrones Season 6

Books:
The Complete Langston Hughes
The Collected Poems of H.D.
The Gift by H.D.
Bacchus Omnibus Vol 1 by Eddie Campbell
Underground Airlines by Ben Winters

Final Fantasy XV
Uncharted Trilogy

Two lego sets and headphones as well as Codenames and Pandemic and clothes round the list out.
