We are a bunch of old white racists, I guess. Too bad about Selma, not too crushed about any of the other snubs. I like pretty much all of these nominations though I could have used more Inherent Vice. I think I have only a few docs and The Raid 2 plus two of the overlooked films to catch up with. Should be doable as long as National Gallery is a thing that I can get access to.

Wow, not that I've really been around much but I though Birdman would definitely be a BP nom - gets director but misses for the screenplay and Keaton as well.

Need to see Under the Skin.

For once, I've seen the Wiseman!!

Biggest Delight: The Sound Category: Godzilla, Under the Skin, The Wind Rises

Most Notable Omission: Best Visual Effects - Birdman

Category Where I'll Be Biting My Nails: Best Debut Feature - 1 I loved, 3 I liked a lot and 1 that'll make me angry if it beats the other 4

Best Scene (Dramatic) is the only category where I went 0/5. My picks...
1. Noah - Creation/Evolution
2. The Guest - David at the bullies' bar
3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Elevator
4. Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Assault on Nick Fury
5. Under The Skin - Reaching out to a fellow man/In the Goo

Did I Do That?: Drop to the Beach, Edge of Tomorrow - It wasn't until a rewatch in January that I noticed and commented on this shot, which is now nominated.

This is my first year voting, and tbh I'm really shocked how many categories resemble my ballot.

I got...
One 0/5's
Three 1/5's
Seven 2/5's
Eight 3/5's
Two 4/5's
and One 5/5's

The category i got 0/5 in: Biggest Surprise
The category I got 5/5 in: Best Soundtrack
The categories I got 4/5 in: Best Supporting Actress, Best Animated Film

Biggest Disappointment: Best Cinematography (1/5)
I'm not too disappointed to see Selma and The Raid 2 be looked over, but who put Interstellar above Cavalry or Blue Ruin?

Happiest Surprise: Best Actor (2/5), Best Picture (2/5), Best Original Screenplay (3/5)
Really glad to see Whiplash and Nightcrawler getting their due love. Especially in the acting category (was sure Teller would be overlooked). Even though I didn't get a lot of my films through, I'm happy with the nominations that beat them out (The Grand Budapest and Under the Skin in particular).

The Snubs: Selma and Imitation Game were both great films, but honestly the reason I love FS is because you guys focus your love on the more effective indie scene; and in that way, the indies are out in full force. Even Locke and Frank managed their way into the nominations. My only complaint may be that Starred Up seems to have been overlooked, if no where else, for best actor alone (though i really am happy with the best actor category, so I'm not too upset).

What's Next?
I guess I have some foreign films and doc's to catch up on. Aside from that I'm pretty well versed in the nominations, and already see where 90% of my votes will be going.

Oh right, NOTHING for The Guest?!?

It was a finalist for Overlooked, and really close in some other categories. Full report later.
