Nominees I have not seen (overlooked in blue) (docs in red)

Plan To See
Ida (3)
Force Majeure (3)
Jodorowsky's Dune (1)
The One I Love (1)

Plan To Skip
The Babadook (1) (I'm a baby; cannot stand horror)
Goodbye To Language (1) (Short attention span. Some one else's fault)
Bird People (1) (not received well enough to make me okay with subtitles)
The Immigrant (2) (I don't like James Grey)

Will Consider Later (The "If I Must" Category)
Two Days, One Night (1)
How to Train Your Dragon 2 (1)
The Missing Picture (1)
National Gallery (1)
Obvious Child (1)
Like Father, Like Son (1)

My plan is to see at least three (ideally, four) movies per category so I know my votes are representative of my views. Isn't it great to be young and have so much free time :)

Haven't seen 27 of them. I'm only interested in catching up with Birdman, Boyhood and Gone Girl out of those 27.

Bird People (1) (not received well enough to make me okay with subtitles)

If it makes any difference, the first half is almost entirely in English and while the second half has dialogue in French, you could watch it with the subtitles off and still be able to follow everything.

Well, follow everything just as well as one could if they spoke French, I'm not sure I'd promise being able to FOLLOW it.

That was mostly meant as a joke  :P
I have no qualms with subtitles, only that most foreign films are outside of my interests as a film goer. I usually don't brave the foreign tides unless I feel there is a really urgent reason for me to do so (for instance, I watched Bullhead because I was excited for The Drop, both of which i really enjoyed). It's more that Bird People is the one foreign language nominee I don't feel the need to see, and I won't feel bad skipping it because I'll have seen the other 4 nominees (or at least 3, I haven't decided whether I'm willing to try and tackle the Dardennes).

I'm pretty sure Bondo was the only one around here who didn't like it. Not that there were *that* many who've seen it.

Also: Bird People > Birdman (and I actually liked Birdman)

As it usually takes at least well over two years before I feel I've caught up with a production year I'm quite satisfied with already having seen a third!
Extraordinary (81-100˚) | Very good (61-80˚) | Good (41-60˚) | Fair (21-40˚) | Poor (0-20˚)

I actually hadn't seen many people on FS talk about it, so when I saw it in the nominations pool I looked up to see if any reviewers I follow had seen it. Not many had, and the ones who did, didn't have many positive things to say. Based on the reaction to my post though, I suppose I can move it into the "If I Must" category :) There's never too many movies to have in my queue.

It has some of the best under the radar visual effects I've ever seen. Overall I liked it, but didn't love it.
