Does anyone else see Black Snake Moan as the odd man out from The Hit List?

Not at all. I absolutely loved the film and agree with its inclusion on their Best Overlooked/Unseen Films list.

One of those where the experience of seeing it at Sundance, at the premiere, with a great crowd might give it that extra half star... Not that I'm suggesting it's a conscious thing to reward a movie because you saw the premiere (who cares), just mean sometimes you can get extra carried away by an experience.

Black Snake Moan, along with Roger Dodger*, Hustle and Flow, and Brick are the films I kind of consider the unofficial Golden Brick Hall of Fame; films that predate the Golden Bricks but I associate with the show championing louder than anyone else. Maybe Clerks 2, The Break-up, Fast Food Nation, and Cinderella Man, too.

*predates the podcast but I remember it being on a lot of early Top 5s.
