Bill Murray over Tilda Swinton is just plain incorrect.
I can't believe I'm going to vote for Joaquin Phoenix twice now. He's in a soft bracket.
Tom Hardy v. Michael Shannon is the toughest choice yet. By your rules, we have to imagine the loser never gets to make another film. Both actors still have so much left in their suitcase to surprise us with.

Same, he's been up against two actors I actively dislike who don't have the quality or body of work to even be in this competition (even wedged in based on "up and coming" status.

His competition should be "soft." We had him seeded high (#4) for a reason. Stand by it.

The Murray over Swinton is too bad though. Definitely feels more like career recognition, not based on whose work is most exciting now/future. But it's arguable she should even win on those terms.

You always liked him more than me. I wonder why he gets so many lead roles while you would find a spot for him in your dream cast. Yet twice now I've given him the edge over his competition. On my dream team, I'd easily trade him for a Chiwetel Ejiofor or Peter Mullen.

A travesty.  None too happy with Gyllenhaal over Binoche either, nor ScarJo over Ejiofor.  Really wanted to see Michelle Williams go farther, but I figured with the FS audience she didn't stand a chance against Michael Shannon.

Semifinals seem destined to include Fassbender, Phoenix and Shannon.  The other bracket is harder to call, but probably DiCaprio.

Gosling over Kendrick is appalling and invalidates the whole process.

You selected this instead of Chastain over Bardim, invalidating your comment.
