Junior, I thought you might be interested in the other works of Whiplash's Damien Chazelle? (Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench, Grand Piano, which he only wrote but it's a Horror film.) Perhaps you're waiting for my reviews first.

I responded to this in my head. Sorry. Yes, I saw Grand Piano and I liked it a lot. Didn't know Guy and Madeline was musically leaning, I'll add that one, too.

Wait! You've seen Mary Poppins before, right?

Yes, and The Jungle Book and most of West Side Story and The Muppet Movie. But with how successful my Sound of Music rewatch was last year I thought MP would be a good option for a rewatch. Adding Bedknobs and Broomsticks, which was a childhood fave to the list, too.

Cry-Baby

Prepare to be disappointed.  Have you seen Hairspray?  It's a million times better (though less of a "musical").

I like Cry-Baby, but I would say it won me over eventually. Not an instant attraction like Hairspray.

Junior, have you seen Todd Haynes' Velvet Goldmine? I don't see it mentioned anywhere and I think you would like it a lot.

Also, Mrs. 1SO is trying to jump the gun. I'm definitely marking Road to Singapore as our May 1st kick-off film, but there might be a write-up on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang before then.

I have not seen Velvet Goldmine. I'll see if I can get my hands on it. I'm going to be starting early, too. Got a few more movies too...

It's Always Fair Weather, The Band Wagon, Easter Parade, and An American in Paris.

Most curious to hear your opinion of The Band Wagon. Michael Phillips and I are the extreme ends of the scale on that one.

A lot of Bollywood titles on Netflix Instant. I wonder if any are good. Anybody seen...
Chakde! India
Dil To Pagal Hai
Jab Tak Hai Jaan
Mohabbatein

I also see they have Under the Electric Sky. Probably going to watch that doc about the Electric Daisy Carnival.

Going to try to get to some of the lesser Bing Crosby movies this month. Got a couple of those 2 movie discs in my Netflix queue. Seen probably his dozen or so "greatest hits" but as he is arguably Gonzaga's most famous alumni I have to see more to do the guy justice.

Chakde! India is SRK's inspirational sports movie. He's relatively more subdued in this than some of his other roles.

Dil To Pagal Hai and Jab Tak Hai Jaan are Yash Chopra vehicles. The former has an immense amount of numbers, but dramatically it's pretty inert and not interesting. Still, it does feature Madhuri Dixit. The latter is his final film, and while interesting, it features some pretty egregious screenwriting choices.

I haven't seen the last one, but I imagine it will get watched eventually. Amitabh Bachchan + SRK in some kinda music school? 200 minutes? ok!

If Ideathy is watching with me, we will certainly be watching at least one SRK this month.
