« on: April 24, 2015, 02:38:51 AM »
Hop aboard the Filmspotting double decker bus for a tour of the movies' most famous and beloved homes... beloved by the hosts, anyway. Inspired by their review of Alex Garland's directing debut EX MACHINA, Josh and Adam share their Top 5 Movie Houses. Plus, Massacre Theatre and more.

The Ferris Bueller house isn't really isolated like the one in Ex Machina its actually in a suburban neighborhood and I can't believe nobody picked the house from Days of Heaven.

Unless I missed it, I'm most surprised nobody mentioned the house from Up.

It was Josh's honorable mention, but he said it was too easy.

The house from North by Northwest would have been a good one too. Never seen the film Rachel Josh chose though.

I could have sworn they did a review of Reservoir Dogs several years ago.

I wasn't suggesting it was THAT similar to the one in Ex Machina... for crying out loud, that's on like it's own continent. But you don't see a single house near it in the movie or in pictures when you Google it.

Nope. I haven't seen it in 20 years. We did a Sacred Cow of Pulp Fiction.

You haven't seen Demme's Rachel Getting Married?

First time I've listened to the podcast.  Outstanding work.  Looking forward to next week's episode.  I thought of a couple of houses/domiciles though some violated your criteria such as the Overlook Hotel from the Shining and the Hotel room 2046 from Kar Wai Wong's 2046.  However two that I think would count are 320 Sycamore, the Bailey residence from It's a Wonderful Life and a silly inclusion; the Animated Halloween movie Monster House.
My List:
1. The Overlook from the The Shining
2. The Hill House from the The Haunting
3. 320 Sycamore from It's a Wonderful Life
4. The Bate's home from Psycho
5. The Nebbercracker Home from Monster House

bummed, Ex Machina doesn't have a release scheduled for Singapore for some reason.  I see it is being released in Iraq (maybe a film festival?) but not here...

Will have to be a Blu-ray purchase
