Where to start with Sang-soo Hong
« on: July 23, 2020, 09:27:50 AM »
Hello there, I hope this is in the right section.

I'm a fan of South Korean films, especially the more quirky recent ones like 'Christmas in August', 'Failan', 'My Sassy Girl' etc. However - Sang-soo Hong is a big blind spot for me and given the rate he churns films out I have no idea where to start. I'd like something that gives me a general feel for his work but also don't want to start with one that might put me off him. So does anybody here have any recommendation of his better works?

Many thanks

In the forum we have a Directors Board, where nearly everyone has their own thread. You can find a general overview of what we think of Sang-soo Hong along with some ranked lists and a smattering of reviews here.
