I am sorry you had to watch Glee. Don't know why you would though.

Thanks Martin, that seems pretty much figured out. I might steal some pointers from you guys. So far most of my marks are 7s and 8s which seems a bit too generous to me, though I do make an effort in my choosing of movies to watch. Still, I'd like to better use the full range of grades available.

Sandy, like roujin, has a two-grade system:

A = I really like this!
A- = I'm happy for you that you like this!

I'm on a ten point scale, though I may go back to grades this fall when I re-enter academia. I probably over-estimate most movies, and I think 8 is probably my biggest category. But I try to watch good movies most of the time, so when they end up being good, I'll give them an above average grade, which means above a 7, which means an 8 or more. I guess I match up with pix's categories pretty well, especially how a less-good movie with great parts can get the same grade as a good movie that doesn't really engage me at all.

The only weird part there is how 7 is the average on a 10-point scale. Maths!

Yeah, a holdover from my letter grade philosophy. I'm not a smart man.

Yeah, a holdover from my letter grade philosophy. I'm not a smart man.

It would only be weird if he were grading every movie in the world but I assume he picks his movies somewhat carefully to avoid the rabble and the drivel. This is akin to having a 7/10 average in a class where most students are above average because they have been screened by the university before being admitted.
