You, the Living
« on: September 18, 2009, 12:39:11 PM »
Any else seen this?

One of my favorites of the year so far.  It's seemingly bleak look at the inanities, eccentricities and idiosyncrasies of contemporary life is actually filled with compassion, humor and humanity.  A number of the vignettes are absolutely hilarious and a scene involving a guitar solo in a moving house is one of the most quietly thrilling cinematic experiences I've ever had.  Just had a huge grin plastered to my face while thinking, I can't believe I'm seeing this.

It definitely takes the right mindset going in, but if you're there, I'm sure you'll love it.

Just watched it. Songs from the Second Floor is one of my favorite movies. I've watched Songs three times, and I don't usually re-watch movies.

I think my expectations may have been to high for You, the Living. The moving house, ironic music, and even the bombers felt very Monty Python to me. I liked it, but it's no Songs.

The two dinner parties were the high (low) points for me.
