There's Nothing Out There (1991)
« on: September 10, 2015, 07:35:37 PM »
With October approaching I thought I'd plug one of my favorite B horror films.

This was a video store find in high school that instantly became a favorite in my circle of friends.

A low budget horror comedy written, directed, and produced by Rolfe Kanefsky, There's Nothing Out There is a really funny deconstruction of horror tropes that gets very meta. It really is Scream before Scream in that sense. Even featuring a wise-ass video store clerk going through the rules of surviving a horror movie.

I picked up the DVD and re-watched it with some friends a couple years ago and it held up surprisingly well. Maybe even better.

Oh man. Do you know how easy it is to get me to watch a Horror film? I hope I've seen most of your upcoming recommendations because this is going to crowd up my list.

Not sure I'll come up with too many others you wouldn't have seen, but this one is seriously a gem.

It also has a terrible poster on IMDB. I wish I hadn't seen it.

It's a very silly movie.
