It would be good to know who those single ratings are from. Can't remember if I voted on this guy or not:

Marcel Pagnol - 8

The others I've seen at most 1 film by.

Though I'm still taking Ratings up thru 12/15 (and probably a little beyond), I decided to start with The Great Unknown because these are Directors who need a little more attention. They were championed by someone, but are too deep in obscurity.

The Great Unknown will be 3 or 4 posts, and if Ratings for these 71 are submitted, it will be easy for me to make the adjustment to one of the other lists. I also figured this could be done while double-checking the posts for Ratings I missed. Sure enough, I missed a Martin post which is why there are now 71 names among The Great Unknown, down from 79.

I didn't want to single anyone out by naming who submitted the only rating for a director. Often the person who submitted the name isn't the person who submitted the rating.

I also submitted for Marcel Pagnol, so he will be removed from the previous Results post and appear in the next one.

The Great Unknown pt. 2

These submitted directors received 2 Ratings, which is not enough data to make any of the final lists.

Of the 71 names on The Great Unknown, I've seen enough to rate 23 of them. I would love to Marathon the rest, but I don't have that kind of time anymore.

I would love to post the final list to give people time to watch and Rate the names that only need 1 more Rating, but it would be too easy to game the system to ensure placement in the Top 100 Directors for the highly-rated ones. It could also lead to people watching directors they normally wouldn't and sabotaging them with unfairly low ratings. Perhaps I will just give their names but not post what their current score is until after the 15th.

I saw a screening recently with Yoshishige Yoshida and he would be honored if you took the time to see his films - he said so himself! It didn't sound like he was too concerned with ratings, though, so I don't think he would be upset about watching this list from the sidelines.

This is the format I'm currently considering, open to suggestions.
I think a Top List would only hold general interest through 100. Picked this director at random as a Beta test.

Score: 5.052 (16 Ratings)
Rated 10–9: 0–0

Key Films:
Amores perros [Love's a Bitch] (2000)
Babel (2006)
Birdman (2014)

Is giving a number for every ranking too much? Like, AGI got 0 10s, 0 9s, 5 8s, 12 7s and so on? That might be interesting. Or it might be too much info.
