So far, I've had a tough time narrowing down Luis Bunuel and Johnnie To to 5 titles because both have had long and very diverse careers, but that's nothing compared to William Wyler, who was nominated for Best Director 12 times. In choosing 5, I left off...
The Good Fairy (1935)
Come and Get It (1936) [co-directed by Howard Hawks]
Jezebel (1938)
Wuthering Heights (1939)
The Westerner (1940)
The Little Foxes (1941)
Mrs. Miniver (1942)
Detective Story (1951)
The Desperate Hours (1955)
Ben-Hur (1959)
The Children's Hour (1962)
The Collector (1965)
Funny Girl (1968)

With a career that diverse, it took time to find an image that might sum it up.

As I get more used to the Results format, generating the posts more quickly, I'm on the lookout for interesting information. This is why some of the last directors contain expanded information. (9 out of 15 people rate Kiarostami at least an '8'.) Also, the difference between the scores is so slim - 99 names rate between 7 and 9 - which is why each Rating and the number of Ratings a director received counted so much.

This is truly an amazing list.  Three directors so far I haven't seen anything by, and I certainly need to catch up with them.

Yeah there is a boatload of blindspots for me too... what is the best intro to Tarkovsky? He seems like a tough one.

Format is great 1SO.
