A Little Behind the Scenes

#38 Todd Haynes
Score: 7.578 (15 Ratings)

#37 Steven Spielberg
Score: 7.579 (21 Ratings)

A very close Score. Spielberg's advantage here is maintaining a high Rating over 21 Ratings. Unweighted, Todd Haynes is a 7.4 to Spielberg's 7.2, but 5 people didn't Rate Haynes at all, Ratings which could've gone either way.

Also, one person Rated Steven Spielberg a '1'. Remove that Rating and his Score would be 7.866. His unweighted Score would be 7.5, higher than Todd Haynes unweighted Score.

Agnès Varda was another one where I thought "how I am supposed to sum up her greatness in a single frame?" Then I remembered your quote of goodguy's post, and knew I had to go with it even though I haven't seen The Beaches of Agnès yet. (High on my Watchlist. Probably this year.)

Varda is the highest ranking female director.

For anyone who thinks these kinds of lists favor active directors, there are only 14 more names (or teams) who are still making movies.

This is great. I need to see more Herzog especially with Bad Lieutenant on my Top 100. Watchlist got a nice padding there.

Isn't this editorializing?

It is, but couldn't you make that claim against my choosing of the Key Films? I wrote that partly to explain the inclusion of the DVD collection and mostly because I think those videos are key to Spike Jonze career and most certainly a factor in his high ranking.
