Least surprising #1 ever?

Jared Hess at #2? His movies seem so innocuous. Hard to imagine people even caring enough to rate him so low.

Or, While You were Sleeping. :(
Or Cliffhanger

Seen both, and still enjoy them. I own While You were Sleeping :)

You're a good man, Dave! :)

I would say that about Andrew Bergman or Edward Burns, but Hess is painfully unfunny. Napoleon Dynamite was a 'love it' or 'hate it' film. I was in the 'hate it' group but that one has fans. I went to an advance screening of Nacho Libre because I liked the idea and thought Jack Black would work good with this director. It was one of the worst recent comedies I've seen, with one sort-of laugh and a lot of desperate attempts.

You would think that would be the end, but I was on an airline flight where Gentleman Broncos was an option. I heard Jemaine Clement was good in it and it has Sam Rockwell, who's never bad. Plus the surreal image of his riding a flying deer that fires rockets made it a good pick when trapped on an airplane. Cut to the end, I've seen 3 entire films by Jared Hess and they all suck.

I do think you should have put Alan Smithee as number one. At least for a day or two. :)

Man GENTLEMAN BRONCOS is great, NAPOLEON DYNAMITE is even greater, I love NACHO LIBRE a whole lot (maybe it's the Mexican thing that 1SO doesn't get).  But the further apart 1SO's and I's taste get the more I feel like I'm not becoming a pretentious movie snob.  Not saying 1SO is or anything, just his educated taste is something I don't get.  Obviously in the case of Hess not many likes at all lol.

I've only seen the one film so I didn't vote for Hess, but I didn't like Napoleon Dynamite.

Dennis Dugan seems unrateable to me.

Happy Gilmore is in my Top 100, but don't much like the rest of his stuff but it has little to do with direction. Happy Gilmore, like the rest of Adam Sandler films, is good or bad based upon about 60% Adam Sandler, 20% the other cast, 20% the writing.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

Among the Dennis Dugan filmography is a fascinating film called Brain Donors. It's a modern day attempt at a Marx Bros. film with John Turturro as Groucho. I laughed a lot, and have seen the movie many times.
