Putting Wolf Hall to the side for a bit. The first sixty pages of this

are among the best I've ever read. A spectacular capsule of time captured spectacularly.

Did you ever get to Wolf Hall ? I just finished it. On to the sequel.

The sequel didn't pull me along, but it was worth the read definitely .

About 600 pages into a reread of:

Entertaining the notion of following this up with Alan Moore's Jerusalem. I hear it's this sprawling mixture of all sorts of genres and I think it'll either be hot garbage or wonderful. Either way, I want to read it.

Wondering if Sandy ever gave Strange & Norrell a try.

(On that topic, in the TV series, Norrell is pronounced with a closed "e" and I wanted to see if someone could confirm that is how one should properly say it.)

I finally bought it!

I'm only about a chapter into it, though. I should have gotten it on Audible. Maybe I still will. :)

first few chapters are a bit of a chore but hang on to it. It gets good when you get to London.

The 10 Best Books of 2016, New York Times

I've downloaded The North Water to read because of this in the description: "Picture a meeting between Joseph Conrad and Cormac McCarthy in some run-down port as they offer each other a long, sour nod of recognition."  Sounded like a book I'd enjoy.

I am interested in it too, but more because of the "historical fiction" and "violent psychopath" parts.

The ones about existentialists and the Kochs also sounds great.
