He was in 6 movies in 1939, earning an Oscar nomination for Beau Geste. Four of the films were Westerns. The one you didn't watch is Allegheny Uprising, starring John Wayne, Claire Trevor and George Sanders. Despite the cast, that one is just okay.

You'll see him again in Canyon Passage.

His best role came the next year, when he starred in The Great McGinty.

Yea, I went to look at Tracy's filmography and to my surprise it is my first of his.

You need to check out Man's Castle from 1933, a pre-code classic. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0024302/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_59

It's a good change-of-pace, but I prefer him as a jerk. For non-jerk roles, I'm partial to Birth of the Blues where he plays a coronet player opposite Bing Crosby.

Audie is an odd duck. There are roles he's really good in, like No Name on the Bullet, but as an actor I don't think he's ever given a great performance. It's not where he came from, he just grew some skills over many years, like Keanu Reeves.

For the record, I've had a request in on the Criterion Blu of My Darling Clementine from the library for a few weeks. If it's still not available after I watch my next two football movies I'll downgrade to the DVD version to keep this wagon rolling along.

When you're ready to get back into this, this Top 10 list from Cinefix makes an excellent reintroduction, although I would say the ranking is mostly backwards.

Hopefully soon! I was able to watch movies for the first time in my new house last night. About 5 films behind in the new ESPN releases, so trying catch up there first, then transition back to Westerns and Football.

After wandering a while in the desert, I believe I see the trail up ahead in the distance, unless it's merely a mirage...

I think I'd love how awkward it'd be, or how awkward it should be.
