Best Movies Never Made (Top 5 idea)
« on: February 17, 2016, 06:42:27 PM »
Simon Braund has a great book called The Greatest Movies You'll Never See. It's filled with some interesting backstories on some long  rumored films that never made it to the screen. It also includes some pretty neat speculative poster art for the films discussed. It got me wondering what are the films that are still languishing in development hell that you would have liked to see the most? My personal top five would have to be:

1. Stanley Kubrick's Napoleon
2. Quentin Tarantino's The Vega Brothers
3. The Coen Bros.'s To the White Sea
4. Russ Meyer's & The Sex Pistols' Who Killed Bambi?
5. Orson Welles' Heart of Darkness

I would certainly have liked Russ Meyer's & The Sex Pistols' Who Killed Bambi? and Orson Welles' Heart of Darkness to have been made. A little less so The Vega Brothers. I would have loved to have seen Jodorowsky's Dune.

Steven Spielberg's RETURN OF THE JEDI and Martin Scorsese's THE RISE OF TEDDY ROOSEVELT starring Leonardo DiCaprio. :'(

I don't think Orson Welles ever finished DON QUIXOTE.

David Lynch's Ronnie Rocket.  Freaky stuff.

The Other Side of the Wind with Orson Welles as director and John Huston starring.

Del Toro's, At the Mountain of Madness.  Del Toro doing a Lovecraft story?  Yes, please.

Y: The Last Man

David Lynch's Return of the Jedi.  I suppose I'd prefer it done as a remake, not as the only one, given what Lynch did with Dune.

I like that source, he's one of the few decent Youtubers out there (Le Fossoyeur de films, for any curious French speakers).
