Most-Read Authors
« on: April 26, 2016, 01:43:54 PM »
By number of books read:

Patricia Cornwell (8 ) - was into her crime fiction when I was in high school

Gabriel Garcia Marquez (7) - my favorite author

Yasunari Kawabata (7) - also my favorite author

Tom Clancy (6) - another a high school favorite

Jack Kerouac (4) - I've read On the Road four times. Three of those when it was the only book I had while traveling for a month.

Raymond Chandler (4) - just one of the best there is

Tom Robbins (4) - a short, weird phase that was lovely for a few months and then his style wore me out

If you count series:

Brian Jacques (14) - The Redwall series was my leap into "real" books when I was seven or eight.

JK Rowling (7) - Harry Potter

Italo Calvino - around a dozen books, both novels and story collections

Isaac Asimov - I think 17 novels and maybe a dozen short story collections

Connie Willis - 5 novels, 3 collections of stories/novellas

Stephen King - 16-17 novels, 6 collections (most when I was a kid)

James Thurber - I dunno, around 9 or 10

R.L. Stine I loved his Give Yourself Goosebumps game books as a kid, and I've read'em a lot. It's like discovering a new adventure with each ending. Can't remember how many books... maybe 12-18.

Enid Blyton Read a number of her books for my school's reading sessions. 4-5 books, I think.

E. B. White Charlotte's Web. I could hardly forget that one. It's part of our literature assignment.

And that's it, unless comic book authors count.

"I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up all alone. It's not. The worst thing in life is ending up with people who make you feel all alone." - Lance Clayton (played by Robin Williams), World's Greatest Dad

Eternally seeking variety. 'Tis the spice of life for me.

As an adult.

Warren Murphy and Richard Sapir - (~75) Although ghostwriters wrote a lot of these books, it is all from the very pulp series of The Destroyer
Douglas Reeman (as Alexander Kent) - (15)
Isaac Asimov - (13)
Craig Thomas - (13)
Raymond E Feist - (12)
Jim Butcher - (12)
Peter Lovesey - (9+)
Trudi Canavan - (9)
Naomi Novik - (9)
Jennifer Fallon - (9)
Orson Scott Card - (~9)
Ngaio Marsh - (8+)
J.K. Rowling - (8 )
Kevin J Anderson - (8 )
George R. R. Martin - (7)

There are probably several other fantasy and sci fi writers I have left off.
