14- James Ellroy

He now lives in Denver and will come and introduce Noir films at the Alamo Drafthouse and do a Q&A afterwards.  I need to go to one of these screenings.

His language can be quite fruity.  ;D I'm surprised he'd ever leave LA. He seemed psychologically tied to it.

I just looked, he's hosting a screening of Miller's Crossing next month.  I just got tickets.

Wooooooow! I can only imagine Ellroy on MC. He might have a few opinions on it. Love to hear about it.

Love this thread. Wish I could contribute, but I haven't yet been alive long enough with the knowledge that I like reading.

Love this thread. Wish I could contribute, but I yet haven't been alive long enough with the knowledge that I like reading.

The beauty of reading today is that there are so many options.
Yes I love my physical books - nothing quite like a trip to the bookstore.
On the other hand - I love my kindle as well. On the go and carting 1000+ books with you?
Marvelous.
Plus there are ton's of free books available as well as lots of discounted books for sale (Bookbub FTW!) - thanks wingman for introducing me to that little money drain. ;)

No excuses - go catch up! :D

Orson Scott Card-- 42 books

Terry Pratchett-- 36 books

Isaac Asimov-- 31 books

C.S. Lewis-- 27 books

Neil Gaiman-- 27 books (including the Sandman series)

Stephen King-- 23 books

Diana Wynne Jones-- 19 books

John Grisham-- 18 books

Piers Anthony-- 16 books

Robert Heinlin-- 14 books

About 10 books each-- Rhet MacPherson, Jeff Smith, Plato, Gerald Morris, Kurt Vonnegut, Stephen Lawhead, Lloyd Alexander, Stephen R. Donaldson, Frank Herbert

However, there is one author whom I have read more than any other, and more frequently.  I have read exactly 55 Dr. Seuss books (including 5 written as Theo LeSig and his adult book The Seven Lady Godivas), and some of these I have read more than a hundred times, such as The Cat in the Hat and Fox in Socks.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez for the number of times I've read "One Hundred Years of Solitude", "Love in the Time of Cholera", and a few others.

Probably Kurt Vonnegut in number of different titles.

Speaking of Vonnegut, anyone read "Breakfast of Champions"? I think the Walmart logo looks like a simpler version of the asshole he drew in that book.
