Trailers
« on: August 12, 2016, 01:57:30 AM »
I deleted the old trailers thread and started a new one.

Post links to trailers only until we get this video embed problem straightened out.

Thanks!

There's a new Star Wars: Rogue One trailer. Any opinions?
Looks great to me, pretty much what I'm expecting.

I think the new Rouge One trailer is better than the last one, it looks pretty good. Seeing more of the cast together is super exciting! For being more closely tied to ANH than TFA, it sure looks like they're branching out a whole lot more design wise, which is cool. I'm still not sold on the overall tone and worried it just won't have the Star Wars sense of fun and adventure to it, but we'll see. I also couldn't care less about the Vader tease. All I want for these movies is for them to succeed on their own without constantly using the crutch of the original trilogy elements, but that seems to be something we're stuck with.

Also, can we PLEASE move on from using a sad, dramatic rendition of a nostalgic piece of music for trailers?

I'll put it here:

A lot of it works for me. The visual style is great. Very grounded, earthy even, and with a tremendous sense of scale - from the AT-ATs during the beach battle, to the great shot of the woman walking up to the Tie Fighter.

The cast looks great.

The Vader reveal at the end is really tacked on. Could've have been a much better moment with some build up.

The blind guy looks awesome, I'm super excited for this.

Very intriguing, but Villeneuve has a way of letting me down.

Yeah, this looks to be his best movie so far, but I've not yet truly loved something he's done. I'm intrigued, I don't want to see anything else before the movie comes out, but I'm only cautiously optimistic.
