Here's an idea then: just don't go to the movie. You know you're under no actual obligation to watch these , right? Unless you live with some psycho, no one's pointing a gun to your head and making you walk to the theatre, pay for a ticket and sit there for two hours to watch all those people you're tired of. Just go watch whatever you actually want to watch and stop complaining that not everything that's made caters to your tastes, because some people do want to watch more of Downey and are glad he's in this.
And thus the choice becomes to go or not to go, instead of chosing what to see, as blockbuster movies more and more push away alternative options from the repertoire.

I am super excited about IT. Looks legitimately terrifying, glad it will be R-rated.

I might be interested if they get rid of the unnecessary and sickeningly egregious lets-describe-children-having-sex-for-several-pages part of the book that turned me off Stephen King forever.

They already said they got rid of that. It's, um, not good. I think it's important, but there are other ways to do the same thing in the movie without the grossness.

Getting some sweet, sweet Speed Racer vibes from this (and, you know, The Fifth Element):

Wow. Visually speaking, both Valerian and It look better than I could've hoped.

Looks like Stranger Things is already having an influence.

Was gonna make a snarky comment about the original being a huge influence for Stranger Things, but the setting in the 80s does make your point a bit. I assume there will be some talk about that when the movie comes out, and we'll have to see what actually happens with it. But stuff like the bike-riding was in the original, and the one girl, and the one black character.

I meant the tone of the trailer and not specific plot points. I never read It or watched the mini-series.
