Retro Filmspots 1999: Nominations Ballot
« on: September 17, 2016, 03:04:00 PM »
Below is the official nominations ballot for the 1999 Retro Filmspots. To submit a ballot, simply copy and paste the ballot below into a private message to me, fill in your choices for each category, and send it off. The deadline to submit a nominations ballot is Wednesday, November 30 (extending into Thursday morning).

Please reference the Filmspots 1999: FYC by Category thread when compiling your ballot. FYC stands for "For Your Consideration", and that thread lists out all the possible nominees that have been mentioned to date for each category, included which ones had two (coded in blue) or more than two (coded in bold) votes on the preliminary ballot. This information should really help narrow down your choices in the major categories (but almost anything listed in that thread already has a chance of being nominated).

The Filmspots 1999: FYC by Category thread also serves as a guide to help you differentiate Lead performances from Supporting performances; and Original screenplays from Adapted screenplays.

Other important notes:
  • You do not have to vote in every category, nor do you have to vote for a full five nominees in every category. A first-place vote counts the same whether you list one nominee in a category or a full five; same with a second-place vote, and so on.
  • The order of your nominees is important (votes are weighted) and ties are not allowed.
  • Each nomination must be tied to a single film. If you want to nominate Phillip Seymour Hoffman for Magnolia and The Talented Mr. Ripley, that has to be two separate votes. You can't combine them, except in the Best Year category.
  • Although they have their own categories, non-English language films, documentaries, animated films, and shorts are also eligible for every other category, including Best Picture.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Sorry, it's going to take me a few days to get back on track with this project. I've got the blues.
