Of course the three I would most want to take the trip to see are playing on the weekend I'm not around.

Which ones?

Florida Project, new Agnes Varda, and new Kaurismaki. All on Sunday the 22nd, I think.

Florida Project I feel is a casualty of the festival. Think that thing opens in NYC/LA this week, which I assume means it would have hit Philly/South Jersey the week after or two weeks later, but I assume they held it for the festival. That, to me, kind of blows, because it's just one screening. I'm hoping that it releases actually at some point too.

Sadly because they were scheduled at bad times for me, I will have to miss out on Wonderstruck, which I am bummed about, and Radiance and Walking Past The Future, both of which were on my radar when looking over the lineup. Mapped out a few things, and here are the choices I need to make:

Gemini vs. The Workshop (leaning Gemini)

Newton vs. Faces/Places (leaning Varda!!!)

The Square vs. Gemini (assuming I don't make it out on Friday, in which case I want to see The Square more, but idk when/if it will play Philly proper since I think it starts a NYC/LA/platform run on the 27th regardless. That said, when mapping things out and making a list, not looking at release dates I wasn't previously aware of, The Square was the only thing that got italicized and bolded, which I assume means it's my most anticipated since Happy End or Killing of a Sacred Deer aren't playing.)

Ishmael's Ghosts vs. Lady Bird vs. Blade of the Immortal (Blade, I think, starts a platform[?] run on 11/3, but I would like to see a Miike for the first time; however, Lady Bird is what I'm most interested in, but I also believe that starts a limited run on the 3rd or the 10th, so feel like I should prioritize Ishmael's regardless)

Let the Corpses Tan vs. Ichii the Killer (honestly don't know, it's hard to contextualize older things that I won't be able to see again on the big screen vs. new things that I also probably won't be able to see again on the big screen.)

Blade of the Immortal vs. Three Billboards (Again, both go limited in early November, but I'm more interested in Three Billboards. Kind of depends if I buy a badge or not.)

Sollers Point vs. The Bar (Kind of depends on what I do for Blade/Billboards, either way I can catch both the next day, I think.)

AlphaGO vs Borg/McEnroe (I do want to see this GO documentary because I respect your dedication to the beautiful game, but going to be hard to prioritize an early look at Shia for almost any doc. Unless it was Wiseman, I guess, which if there's a new one it's not playing. Also, that in turn sucks because once again I'm sure it'll get a Filmspots nod and be next to impossible to watch if you miss the PBS airing.)

Definitely hope to see the Perry, Have A Nice Day (there was no way I wasn't going to see this, always try to prioritize their animated offerings),  and I guess The Florida Project and BPM because that first Saturday is lean. Also looking like I'll try and see On Body and Soul (the description has me excited, should I be?) as well as a few other ones that I'll ask opinions about on Twitter if I end up buying a badge.
