So here's how it shook out...

10/18

Ben Is Back (or not back, if I don't go)

10/19

Transit
Styx
The Party's Just Beginning Egg
Galveston
Bodied Diamantino

10/20

All About Lily Chou-Chou
The Other Side Of The Wind
The Image Book
Overlord Knife + Heart

10/21

I Am Cuba/Cold War
Roma
Birds of Passage Boy Erased
Knife + Heart

10/22

The Guilty
Foreboding
Monrovia, Indiana
River's Edge

10/23

And Breathe Normally
Dogman
Wildlife
The Front Runner (I also think Lily Allen has a concert that night, might go to that instead)

10/24

Ramen Shop
Asako I & II
An Elephant Sitting Still
"Man In The Well"

10/25

Ash Is Purest White
Dead Pigs The Angel
Prospect
Cam Bodied

10/26

Happy As Lazzaro
Border/The Angel
Pet Names/Teddy Pendergrass (awful closing night) The Party's Just Beginning
The Wind Wild Nights With Emily

10/27

A Long Day's Journey Into Night 3-D
The Favourite
Vox Lux/Diamantino
Her Smell

10/28

Infinite Football
Shoplifters
Non-Fiction
Donnybrook/Anchor and Hope
Rafiki/Thunder Road/Animated Shorts/go home and sleep

Shirkers (via Netflix)

Ended up at 30 or 31 if you count the short. Had two days where I just couldn't get out, and some others when I got there late. Will do a separate post with my own personal awards. Best in theater moment was likely the Bodied Q&A with Kahn, Jackie Long, and Calum Worthy. Bummed that it's playing very local (not even the city) on the 2nd, but the Q&A plus very full theater would be hard to replicate, and was really going to replaced with Cam (also had director and star for a Q&A that night/time, plus won't hit big screens, but gets on Netflixxx on the 16th), so whatevs mostly with that choice.

They're holding the lineup quite a bit this year when so much of it can likely be anticipated, along with assuming they strong arm holds on Pedro and Bong for festival releases. Hope there are still some surprises.

Guessing Knives Out will be closing night, maybe Mr. Rodgers for opening night. Who knows though. Still pretty excited to see what is on the docket and designing my schedule. Also feel like, just because of how much they've got, it'll be fairly Netflix heavy in the centerpieces/spotlight sections.

Okay, here we are again. The schedule finally went up, which I've linked here if anyone wants to poke around and suggest things for me to seek out. It feels like they still have a big selection of films, but no late night week showings, which is strange. Makes the train easier, for sure, but still feels off/like there is less. As of now, my tentative schedule looks something like this:

10/17

Parasite
Just Mercy (was planning on skipping these both, and still might depending on what opens locally on the 17th, but the theatre showing Parasite is where I need to be to pick up my badge regardless, which is a bummer, so feel like I should at least go to that one in order to make Friday morning less of a rush/back and forth)

10/18

I Lost My Body
Queen Of Hearts
The Whistlers
Jallikattu
The Twentieth Century

10/19

Fourteen
The Wild Goose Lake (maybe A Hidden Life, since that's only showing once, but it's a bit out of the way and throws times off, I think, plus every post-ToL Malick has opened semi-locally, so I should have a chance to see this one)
And Then We Danced
Deerskin*
Nina Wu*

*I have a ticket to Charli XCX this night, and might/probably will go to that instead. It's Charli, baby!

10/20

Varda By Agnes
We Are Little Zombies
Bacarau
Marriage Story/Wounds/Porno (though Eagles/Cowboys also this night, and I may have to pick up my dog, so might wait the two weeks for Marriage Story)

10/21

Litigante
Beanpole
Paradise Hills (#TeamEmma!)
Synonyms

10/22

Nina Wu
Oh Mercy!
Divine Love
The Irishman (might be tight with Divine Love though)

10/23

The Truth
??
Les Miserables
Dogs Don't Wear Pants

10/24

By The Grace Of God
You Deserve A Lover
??
??

10/25

Young Ahmed
Invisible Life
??
Knives Out
Deerskin

10/26

??
Portrait Of A Lady On Fire
??
Atlantics
The Lodge

10/27

??
Sibyl
??
So Long, My Son

Wild Goose Lake was only so-so, so I would suggest picking your other choice for that time. My only other suggestion would be The Australian Dream, but it looks like that is only on 19th when you are fully booked.

Hoping/planning on it, biggest selling point of getting there tonight is not having to go up to the Film Center to pick up my badge tomorrow and immediately hop in a Lyft to get down for And Then We Danced (probably, I guess, might need to sacrifice The 20th Century in case I don't make it next Sunday) since they aren't going to just be at the lounge I guess. Plus Bong, obvi, went in Cannes as my most anticipated of that fest and came out that way too, so I can't wait, though I also assume it's just going to open at the Landmarks next Friday anyway.

However, my damn car has been in the shop literally since 7:30 this morning. Figured it'd be done by now, but if they don't call me by 3:30 I likely won't make it.

Couldn't make the train. Hopefully I can still squeeze it in when it opens sooner rather than later.

There's going to be a virtual (and in-person/in-drive-in) version of the festival this year. FLY is skeptical that he'll make any drive in films, because he has to blow three days of dumb vacation time to go to Vegas for my brother's dumb wedding from the 14th-18th, but interested to see the virtual line up and figure out how it works.
