Thanks Dave!

My picks:

1)   Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
2)   Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them
3)   Moana
4)   Doctor Strange
5)   Trolls
6)   Allied
7)   Assassin's Creed
8.   Arrival
9)   Passengers
10) La La Land

Going back a few years to research this stuff, I came across some surprises:
Twilight Whatever was #1 in 2012 with an 80 million dollar margin. Gods preserve us.
frozen made 80% more money than Desolation of Smaug.
Whiplash only made 13 million dollars and Her only 25 million.

Rogue One is not opening nationwide ?

How well do science-fiction movies usually do at the box office ?

I'll have my list up tomorrow. Why do I feel like Fantastic Beasts is going to outgross Rogue One?

Was kinda thinking the same thing.
I think Rowling is riding a renewed wave of interest/fandom with all of the new books as well.
Personally - I believe she is being coy about her return to the magical world. I think it's gonna happen.

I think most people will be looking at the title and have no idea what that movie is about. Rogue One has Star Wars right there in the subtitle. It is easy to overestimate how much people know about upcoming movies when you hang around here all the time.

I don't think Fantastic Beasts will even do that well. Let alone beat Star Wars.

This. Appeals to hardcore Potter fans who actually know what it is. Average people will look at the trailer and they won't be sure if it's a movie for kids or not. The cast is all 30-somethings and older. Plus, I don't think Redmayne is a draw at all, and I don't recognize anyone else from the poster besides Colin Farrell (who is the biggest draw for me).

Boxoffice Pro has it opening at 75M and finishing its run at 210M, but my guess is it opens under 50M and does 160-170.

I will come back with a list after I have researched a little. But I am in once again.
