Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens
Star Wars
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi
Rogue One
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Not 100% sure between Rogue One and Jedi. Jedi has some great scenes and some terrible, terrible stuff, whereas Rogue One is just generally fine, so it's hard to compare.

This was shortly after seeing Rogue One. Have changed some thing since then (plus three new movies obviously), having rewatched most non-prequel ones.

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi
Solo: A Star Wars Story
Star Wars: Episode VI - Retur of the Jedi
Rogue One
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Still constantly waffling between Force Awakens and Star Wars. It's now clear to me that I like Jedi more than Rogue One, and I might like it more than Solo eventually, it's just that those rough parts are really rough.

Just wondering: What made you rate Solo over Rogue One? I think Solo is very underrated, but I also think Rogue One is has the tightest narrative with the highest stakes and lowest margin for error in possibly all the Star Wars films, and I seem to live in a echo chamber of Rogue One > Solo with my friends around me.

Two major problems with the film:

1. I hate the opening so, so much. I don't understand why we need every character in these new films to have a tragic, orphaned backstory told to us in the most blunt way possible. They do this again with THE MANDALORIAN and THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. I absolutely love how we don't know so much of Solo's backstory at the beginning of Solo. We are just thrown in and we are forced to figure it out as the plot unravels.

2. CGI Peter Cushing, CGI Leia. Personally, I think this is, without a doubt, the absolute worst aesthetic decision of ANY Star Wars movie, especially the Cushing one because he is in the film for the most of its running time. The visual effects are straight up bad and the fact that they decided to do it instead of recasting the role or rewriting him out of the plot is borderline unforgivable. I know the Cushing estate is fine with the decision, but man does it leave a poor taste in my mouth. I shudder at the idea that someone right now is working on the technology to bring James Dean or Marilyn Monroe back to life to further profit off their likeness. Soon the very identity of an actor will become a patent.

Those are the two biggest problems. My minor quibbles with the movie pertain to general poor pacing and the extensive reshoots that were forced in order for it to "feel more like STAR WARS", whatever-the-hell that means.

It's fine. I think SOLO is the first of these movies to buck the trend so of course it gets labeled as the worst one.
