Even though I missed the vote on Best Picture and opted out on Documentary, I still got the most winners.  So I'm finally mainstream.

My happiest result is Samantha Morton winning Best Supporting Actress.  I think she made the most impact of all the supporting actors.

My biggest disappointment is that I didn't change my vote to  Emilie Dequenne for Best Actress after I saw her film.  It wouldn't have made a huge difference anyway, as I hadn't seen Boys Don't Cry.

My biggest disappointment is that I didn't change my vote to  Emilie Dequenne for Best Actress after I saw her film.  It wouldn't have made a huge difference anyway, as I hadn't seen Boys Don't Cry.

Results if you switched your vote:

Best Actress
Cecilia Roth, All About My Mother — 27.9%
     Reese Witherspoon, Election — 23.7%
     Emilie Dequenne, Rosetta — 22.4%
     Hillary Swank, Boys Don't Cry — 17.7%
Annette Benning, American Beauty — 8.3%

Results if you watched Boys Don't Cry and still voted for Dequenne:

Best Actress
Cecilia Roth, All About My Mother — 27.7%
     Emilie Dequenne, Rosetta — 24.0%
     Reese Witherspoon, Election — 23.5%
     Hillary Swank, Boys Don't Cry — 16.5%
Annette Benning, American Beauty — 8.3%

So don't be kicking yourself.  Kick those around you!

Be it stipulated that you're all terrific. Be it also stipulated that it's bananas how far up Magnolia's butt you all are.  8)

So stipulated. The cult of PTA is inescapable.

I'm okay with the Belfast, Maine win. I didn't vote in the category because none of the three I saw I felt deserved to win. Considering I have a decent track record with Wiseman, chances are I'd like it more.

As an Antoinia San Juan voter, guess I should kick myself for not catching up with Sweet and Lowdown

If you'd seen Sweet and Lowdown and still voted for San Juan (which can't be assumed, obviously), the results would've looked like this:

Best Supporting Actress
Antonia San Juan, All About My Mother — 28.5%
Samantha Morton, Sweet and Lowdown — 26.0%
     Julianne Moore, Magnolia — 17.1%
Nicole Kidman, Eyes Wide Shut —14.6%
Helena Bonham Carter, Fight Club — 13.8%

The fact that you would've been voting against Morton is more decisive than the extra weight given your vote for San Juan, but the race was close enough that either element would've been decisive on its own.

In hypothetical land I would have voted for Morton if I had known Moore wasn't in the running.
