Okja
Bong Joon-ho (2017)

Paul Dano gets punched in the face. I assume Bondo loved this movie.

Surprisingly not.

The Meyerowitz Stories
Noah Baumbach (2017)

It's not okay to show your dad your sex video, however artsy.

I recently learned that Olaf’s Frozen Adventure is directed by the team behind Prep & Landing which makes me even more defensive of it. I’m considering doing a detailed look at it - 12 days perhaps - because it’s reputation is far below its true quality. (People react like it’s LEGO Frozen Northern Lights, which is unwatchable.)

I think it's probably fine on its own, like the animation was Frozen and the songs were enjoyable, it's just hard to separate it from how it was released. I know it definitely got me, I went to see CoCo after work on Thanksgiving Eve for a 7:00pm showing, expected to get out at a decent time but that added so much time to the film that I wasn't expecting, plus I wasn't really in the mood at that point for Christmas or Frozen. Will be interested to read your thoughts.

What I liked best about the Olaf short is that it brought me right back into the world of Frozen, which I assume is the intent.  Ideathy says it's just to prep us for the next Frozen film and while in general it might be a mixed bag, for me it worked.  Also, Kirsten Bell must have worked really hard to have such a clear harmony with Idina M.  That was nice.  Too bad their characters were flat.

I thought it was nice how topical Olaf was.

I've seen the short 4 times now and would definitely have a lot to say. I've always been more interested in doing a detailed breakdown of Prep & Landing, but I don't have a good screenshot source on that one. I also have a shorter than usual schedule for a project like this because I'm working in Ireland for a few more days.

Trying to think of the topical reference. I'm sure it's there, just don't remember it. Also, they've never established a time period for Frozen. It looks like Once Upon a Time in fairytale land, but I wonder if it could be an isolated kingdom in contemporary times.

If it was meant to prep us for Frozen 2 I'd say that backfired in a big way. Anti-frozen sentiment has never been so strong. I've also never been more impressed with Kristen Bell's singing, but she's still just working hard to keep up with Idina.

4 times? What the hell...?

Isn't the most beloved song from the original sung by Kristen Bell?

Enjoy Gingerland.

Justice League

I had to see for myself.

I should have listened to the wise voices here.

What a mess.

They are ruining the DC universe.

Enjoy Gingerland.

It is not, that would be the notorious Adele Dazeem.
