I would still consider Streep one of the greats. For me, she is often the reason why an otherwise humdrum seeming film (Ricki and the Flash, Julie and Julia, Florence Foster Jenkins, The Iron Lady) turns into something worthwhile. I actually really liked Doubt and August: Osage County. I hated Into the Woods, and even then (other than some visuals/costumes) I kept thinking "wow, she's the best part of this". This isn't a case of just buying into the hype, I do think she is one of those performers that elevates the work as a whole.
I don't think the same could be said of many of the male actors who were famous around the same time she started working- De Niro, Pacino, Hoffman. Nowadays, a good performance from them feels like a shock.
My personal favorite of hers would have to be Adaptation.
