"That's not how The Force works."I've heard this one frequently two ways. If the speaker thinks the listener(s) won't get the reference they will replace "The Force" with whatever is being discussed.
"That's not how the shopping works."/"That's not how children work."
The tone of the delivery tips off that it's based on the Force Awakens line.
If the speaker thinks the listener(s) WILL get the reference they will say the exact quote, knowing the listeners can make the replacement themselves.
"Donald Trump is going to ignore the subpoena."
"That's not how The Force works."I've been in conversations where a group can't decide on something or the first, best option is unavailable and after making backup plans, someone will say
“The garbage’ll do.”I've heard
"So who talks first? You talk first? I talk first?" as an icebreaker.
From The Last Jedi:
I've been told,
“I’ve seen your daily routine. You are not busy.”When someone doesn't like something they read, I've twice now heard,
“Page turners, they were not.”Following many Donald Trump tweets, I've seen this meme.
