Weird that, for the first time in longer than I can remember, it looks like Spider-Man is doing a true midnight release. Only July 1st tickets I'm seeing are for 12:01am showings, rather than the usual 6 or 7pm night before.

Been stalled with...other means as of late. Is there an above the board way to watch the new Chow?

Haven't done importing or anything before, is there region locking on Blus/does it have a stateside release? I'm on board with this, just haven't done a ton of Blu purchasing outside of the occasional Criterion.

BluRays only have three regions, and North America is the same region as Asia, so any BluRay from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Thailand, etc will play with no problems in an American machine. Yesasia.com is a good, reliable source, though it can definitely be expensive. The New King of Comedy, for example, is $32.

A bit steep, but thanks for the info, I'll likely end up picking it up, the original is one of/perhaps my favorite of the Chow I've seen.

Anyone else appalled and even disgusted by the modern visual aesthetic of films like Dumbo and Aladdin? I slept through an hour of the latter last night, but the parts I saw were just ghastly in terms of their production values. I’d even lump Captain Marvel in with this group, too. These movies look like they were filmed on the the cheap on a cell phone and then gussied up with $200M of special effects. It depresses me.

I had a good enough time with Aladdin, but I do agree on this front. Disney has gotten the Star Wars movies so right on the aesthetic front, but their Marvel movies are bland. The company is doing some good work in that department, they should study themselves.

All the time and across many genres. The new Terminator trailer looked especially hideous from the environments to laughable human movements.

Honestly, big blockbusters look like so much hot garbage these days that I've kinda become used to how much of an eyesore it is to see a film in theaters.

Like the new Godzilla movie looks like it would be awesome to see on a big screen but it looks like every other darkly shot, CGI fest blockbuster we're getting these days.
