List has changed a bit:

Embrace of the Serpent
The Handmaiden
Toni Erdmann
Mountains May Depart
The Fits
20th Century Women
Arrival
Moonlight
Elle
Little Sister

Even though Embrace of the Serpent was nominated for an Oscar last year, it fits all the criteria for a 2016 release, so I'm going with that.

Mine may change in a few days, of course. I have yet to watch a few major documentaries that were recently made available.

I am noticing a lot of people not putting Civil War in their top 10 lists. In case any innocent souls wonder by, those people are wrong of course.

It wasn't even the best Marvel Studios movie of 2016.

I'm still catching up, but here are the Top 10 Horror movies of 2016

1. Under the Shadow
2. The Girl With All the Gifts
3. Demon
4. Train to Busan
5. Blair Witch
6. The Witch
7. The Conjuring 2
8. 10 Cloverfield Lane
9. The Shallows
10. The Wailing

Honorable Mentions:
Stranger Things - not a movie, but it definitely deserves a mention
The Invitation - I didn't feel like it belongs on a horror list
Krisha - not a horror film, but plays like a horror film
Green Room - more of a thriller, but intense like a good horror film

Great, I've seen 5 and none are in the top 5. I have to better pick whatever horror I do watch.
