The best thing about seeing a movie in the cinema is other people.
It can also be the worst thing.
Thus the People Suck thread.
Relevant to this topic, I saw today that the local art-house is bringing in The Handmaiden. I was intrigued until I saw that it is nearly three hours. The combination of subtitles and uncomfortable seats makes that length of a film prohibitive in this particular theatre setting.
My local art-house has terribly uncomfortable seats too, with little leg room, but I still try to patronise it whenever they project a movie I want to see, because it's one of a tiny handful of places I can get some of the less mainstream movies. I got to see Hitchcock-Truffaut there and they have a Chaplin late night viewing at the moment.
I don't know how subtitles make it worse for you but the theatre would be the perfect place to watch a three hour movie in my case, even if I am reasonably confident I will like it, as Park directed it.
