Movie Watching Habits: Cinema Attendance

I am curious about how people experience their movies in general and I am starting with a poll about cinema attendance. If you don't go more than once a week to the theatre but watch a couple or more movies when you do, please pretend the question's phrasing is better and takes such possibilities into account. By theatre here I mean any kind of projection room. It does not have to be the local cineplex, it can be your nearest movie institute or an open air public projection of something. Your uncle Ivan's projector in his living room does not count though.

In my case, I usually attend more than one screening a week, often taking the opportunity to make a double feature out of it instead of having to go all the way to the mall all over again - when something does not prevent me from doing so that is, like living somewhere with little to no things to watch, which happens much more often than I would like.

Using colours for the yearly frequency of the poll options I think I should get:

Very often
Often
Regularly

I went with a couple times a month...though that can vary based on school and whether there are films I actually want to see.

Nowadays, "Rarely". There was a time (early 2000's) when it was "Often" or even "Very Often". I'd like to get back up to "Every so often". In general, I prefer to watch at home but it's nice to have the big theater experience once in a while.

What sorts of movies would you like to watch on a big screen Martin? Discoveries or movies you already like? I assume not the most recent blockbusters?

I used to go about once a month, but there are so few movies that are worth the $50 experience of tickets, popcorn & soda for two people.

We have a second-run theater in town where I saw Sully the other day. That was a good experience, but once movies get to that theater all the hype is gone. They're just now playing Force Awakens...

What about not buying soda and popcorn?

I'm fine with it, but good luck convincing my fiance.

On the other hand, I used to go to movies all the time by myself. I loved it. I'll have to start that again now that my work schedule is so different from his.

Rarely. I went twice last year (Midnight Special & Certain Women). It's a bit too expensive for me anyway, and with a baby there's also now less time for me to go. But I don't have a need to see movies as soon as they come out, and I don't need to see them on a big screen, so I don't feel like it's a major loss.

I'm down to only four or five times a year, sadly. Ticket prices/travel times in Los Angeles and owning a projector make staying home pretty easy. There was a year or two when I first moved to Seattle that I averaged over a movie a week.

What Martin said. I'm exactly the same in my habit. Big spectacles on big screens. The rest I catch at home.
