Filmspots 2016: Nominations Ballot
« on: January 17, 2017, 06:20:09 PM »
Below is the official nominations ballot for the 2016 Filmspots. To submit a ballot, simply copy and paste the ballot below into a private message to me, fill in your choices for each category, and send it off. The deadline to submit a nominations ballot is Monday, January 23 (extending into Tuesday morning).

Note that each category heading below links to the corresponding section of the FYC by Category thread (FYC = For Your Consideration).  You are not limited to the options mentioned in these FYC threads. However, if something you want to vote for isn't listed, it's in your best interest to get it added so that other people can consider your nominee. Please also reference the FYC by Film thread, especially to verify which screenplays are Original versus Adapted; and which performances are Lead versus Supporting.

Other notes:
  • You do not have to vote in every category, nor do you have to vote for a full five nominees in every category. A first-place vote counts the same whether you list one nominee in a category or a full five; same with a second-place vote, and so on.
  • The order of your nominees is important (votes are weighted) and ties are not allowed.
  • Each nomination must be tied to a single film. If you want to nominate Amy Adams for Arrival and Nocturnal Animals, that has to be two separate votes. You can't combine them.
  • Although they have their own categories, non-English language films, animated films, and documentaries are also eligible for every other category, including Best Picture.
  • Keep in mind that the Filmspots have different eligibility guidelines than, say, the Oscars. Films like 45 Years, Beasts of No Nation, Youth, and Cartel Land are eligible for the Filmspots again this year, even though they might have been in Oscar contention last year. For a more detailed explanation of the these guidelines, see the this thread.
  • The Best Debut Feature category recognizes a director's US theatrical feature debut. Earlier films that did not receive theatrical distribution in the US do not affect a director's eligibility.
If you have any questions that aren't addressed by the FAQ, please ask them here.

Nominations will be announced on the forum on Thursday, January 26.

I think I'd love how awkward it'd be, or how awkward it should be.
