Love & Friendship - "Facts are horrid things"

This should win if only because it is the perfect 2016/2017 line.

It is quite amazing how different that line played when I saw the film (funny !) and now (oh no).

Your Adam Driver pick is perhaps your most risky one.

It's a hopeful pick (as is Paterson in Editing), but it's a bit of a messy category, seems pretty wide open. Pretty sure Affleck and Farrel are in, then Brolin seems likely, but those last two slots could go a lot of different ways.

Not enough people had access to Paterson before voting I'm guessing. It will be eligible again next year unless it snags a stray nod somewhere.

A ninety film countdown will commence at or near January 26, 2017, 11:30:00 AM in your time zone.

I would like to point out that, in my time zone, you're an hour late !

I assume the forum time zone is what you mean ?

No, I meant your local time, but I should have added the caveat, "...assuming your time zone is correctly set up in your forum profile settings."

For clarity, I meant an hour from now.

Definitely some unexpected results in there. I thought Hacksaw Ridge would at least have a decent showing in the technical categories, but its support somehow matched that of Hello, My Name Is Doris. Bad Moms and Eye in the Sky seemed like stronger candidates for Best Surprise, if nothing else.

A good number of those titles will be reeligible in 2017 and are poised to have a much better showing — e.g., I Am Not Your Negro and My Life as a Zucchini.

I, Daniel Blake is also notable here... it wasn't well received on this forum, but it's a Palme d'Or winner.

I see my "you never know, maybe someone else will vote for this too" picks to fill out some categories have mostly not worked out.

The following films only appeared on two ballots:

Aquarius
Arabian Nights
The Beatles: Eight Days a Week – The Touring Years
The Birth of a Nation
The Brand New Testament
Café Society
Captain Fantastic
Divines
Frantz
Holy Hell
HyperNormalisation
It's Only the End of the World
The Little Prince
Little Sister
Lo and Behold, Reveries of the Connected World
The Mermaid
Other People
The Red Turtle
Sausage Party
Storks
Tony Robbins: I Am Not Your Guru
Train to Busan
Trolls
Weiner-Dog
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

That's a pretty good watchlist right there. Lots of interesting titles.

Sausage Party, Storks, and Trolls all probably would have earned nominations in past years, when the competition for Animated Film was less fierce. Interestingly, both of the votes for Storks were not in that category but in Surprise. I thought Sausage Party might get a vote or two in the Score category, but it wasn't represented there at all.
