For the superhero genre it would have to be either the first X-Men, the original Spider-Man or Iron Man. The first two proved it was possible to make a genuinely good superhero movie that was not camp and Iron Man initiated the Marvel recipe of doing things.

Surely The Dark Knight would be the pick for the 00s ? We still are in a constant cycle of blockbusters following it or reacting to it, for better or worse.

I could see a case for any of these.

Or The Matrix?

How many films since have been accused to trying to copy Wes Anderson's style? It's infested indie filmmaking much like Pulp Fiction did in the 90s.
