I didn't see Silence. But I was very impressed with the other four nominations in the Cinematography category. I didn't see a clear winner. I would have picked La La Land from that bunch though.

Silence was also gorgeous, but Moonlight was for sure the winner. It's literally about lighting at times, and it looks so pretty.

The category is Best Cinematography, not Best Lighting. Lighting is a part of that, but it's not everything either.

I might have voted for Silence over LLL in that category were I an Academy voter. Since the Filmspots separate the years of those movies, we will never know.

Yeah, those camera moves were also fantastic. The slow zooms. The glorious slow zooms.

Moonlight wasn't well shot. Sure, it looked pretty, but the camerawork was so distracting.

Best picture was the highlight for me. And Hacksaw Ridge for sound because that guy has been nominated 21 times and this was his first win. Screenplay awards were v deserving, and Viola Davis.

I wish Moana had won for song, because they gave it to probably the weakest song in La La Land (and I love the songs in that movie).
I wish anyone had won over Emma Stone. Not because she wasn't good, but because her performance was just so typical of her performances + singing and dancing.

Pretty much. Haven't seen the movie but on principle this was the win that I was most annoyed by.

Off screen matters aside, Affleck did give the best performance of the year imo
