Do you prefer the comedic drunk of Mitchum in El Dorado?  Or the deadly serious drunk of Ray Milland in The Lost Weekend?

Here's my five:

1. Dudley Moore in Arthur
2. Nicholas Cage in Leaving Las Vegas
3. William Powell in The Thin Man
4. Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean
5. James Mason in A Star is Born

Legolas - "I think I feel something! A slight tingling in my fingers..."
Rooster Cogburn lying in the back room of the chinese grocer...
Miles from Sideways... the best worst drunk
Billy Bob in Bad Santa

1 Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick in Days Of Wine And Roses
2 Maurice Ronet in The Fire Within (when you are a recovering alcoholic)
3 Mickey Rourke in Barfly
4 Nicolas Cage in Leaving Las Vegas
5 Billy Bob Thornton in Bad Santa

That Miles pick is agreat one .... smirnoff! And I wonder how Ray Milland in The Lost Weekend will fare when we come to that one in the Retrospot project?

There must be Chaplin's Tramp in City Lights.

Probably my favorite film with a drunk, but not my favorite drunk.

Ashamedly, I have not yet seen Legend of the Drunken Master.

oldkid pretty well nailed it with his Top 5, so I went with 5 other options. Gedde Watanabe popped into my head and I thought, "well nobody else will even consider it," so I thought I'd bring him to the group.
