Definitely not bad, for me (my adolescence) bands like Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against the Machine, The Cure, NIN were all groups I was really influenced by (that were not Tool).  But I can definitely agree there were some great songs on City of Angels. PJ Harvey is someone I'm rediscovering recently and that is a great tune.

Cheats:
Pink Floyd: The Wall
Quadrophenia

I seriously considered those cheats, and set them aside.

Two that come to mind are A Mighty Wind and The Rutles, two soundtracks with songs written for fake bands in fake documentaries.

Oh, and Ghostbusters was an early favorite.

Of course I don't listen to the soundtracks (and there isn't one for The Wall, which means I have to go elsewhere to listen to "When the Tigers Broke Free" and "What Shall We Do Now?"), I listen to the albums the movies are based on.

Top 5
1. Pink Floyd: The Wall (don't care if it is a cheat)
2. Star Wars
3. Saturday Night Fever
4. Purple Rain (just as arguably a cheat)
5. Trainspotting

HM:
Once
The Crow
Human Traffic
Judgement Night

Empire Records,
I've never actually listened to this soundtrack, this was just Martin trolling. I'm impressed/disappointed he didn't take the bait.  8)
