1. Oldboy- The moment when the main character realizes he committed incest disgusted me so much. I realize it's the point of the movie, the villain takes the ultimate revenge on the protagonist by destroying his life... the story is told so well, the film is made so well, but I was so disgusted that I don't think I can go through watching that film ever again... I tried once, but I stopped watching at a few parts
2. Audition
3. Shoah
4. Antichrist/Nymphomanic (A Von Trier tie)
5. Kids

Years ago I would've put Schindler's List, Requiem for a Dream and Grave of the Fireflies, but I did rewatch them eventually. What I found weird about Oldboy is how many people recommened it to me with a smile on their face saying "Ohhhh! You've got to see it, it's so cool." A man sleeps with his own daughter. I remember feeling sick to my stomach at that moment.

EDIT: Some other films mentioned that I agree with- Elephant, United 93. I read about Salo, I don't think I'd be able to manage that. I read about Dogtooth which I know a lot of people here loved, but I also think that might be too much for me.

I wouldn't rewatch Dogtooth either, but that's because I don't like it.

So, that thing that repels you in Oldboy, it bothers you whenever you stumble upon it? Or only in the case of that one movie?

Irreversible is the only film I can think of that fits this criteria for me.

Okay, I probably wouldn't watch Dogtooth again. But I am considering rewatching Weekend, which I hated when I saw it in college.

I certainly plan on watching Dogtooth again.  Irreversible, absolutely not.

I actually found when it comes up in other films, I'm still repulsed, but I think Oldboy just pulls me in so well (a testament to how well the filmmakers tell this story) that I had a more visceral reaction. Part of it is expectations. Like I said, it was presented to me by friends with smiles on their face who were like "Oldboy! What a movie! So cool!". I came back like "This is depressing", usually to the reaction of "Oh yeah, that is messed up, but the hammer in the hallway! And the twist!"

In the case of Salo, I've been told there's a scene where people eat feces. I don't think I'll watch Irreversible becaue of the rape scene. Which isn't to say I'm against any portrayal of these instances, but if I hear about the film beforehand and I hear about the tone and how it's portrayed and how real (or "f'ed up" for lack of a better phrase) it feels, I'll just spare myself. I'm sure they're both powerful films, but maybe some other day.

I've seen stuff on the internet that I'm sure is way worse than any of these movies.

Never watched it, but I'm sure I've seen worse.
