Top 5 Stephen King Movies
« on: May 04, 2017, 03:35:28 AM »
I have watched very few movies adapted from Stephen King's material, and most of them I know about are those featured on How Did This Get Made?, which of course aren't exactly stellar pieces of filmmaking, if I take those people at their word. With The Dark Tower approaching though this seemed like an appropriate time for the question:

Which are the five best movies adapted from Stephen King's bibliography?

I didn't know King had written Shawshank. Not the sort of genre I associated with him.

My bad for associating King mostly with a bunch of overlong and pretty much unwatchable miniseries a la Storm of the Century.

Stand by Me is a huge personal favorite of mine. I've always looked at it as less an example of fun nostalgia (and I feel that perception is what surrounds the film and is undeniably a HUGE element of it) because the darker moments are what stands out to me. When one kid talks about abuse springs to mind and a few other tearjerk moments.

1. Stand by Me
2. The Shining
3. The Shawshank Redemption
4. Carrie
5. The Green Mile

Oh wow, that many worse movies than Lawnmower Man? It sounded terrible on HDTGM. And I didn't realise you liked The Green Mile so much.
