Top 5 Emigrating to America Movies
« on: July 25, 2017, 11:32:22 AM »
The idea came to me when PA wrote about The Immigrant, which made me think about Brooklyn, then I read the sentence where PA mentions Brooklyn, then I had an idea for a poll, then I made the poll ; and that's the story of how this poll emigrated to the US.

I will leave the timeframe open, but I was specifically thinking about turn of the century migrations. I am given to understand it is an important piece of American history.

1. In America
2. Dancer in the Dark
3. The Godfather, Part II
4. The Immigrant (1917)
5. Maria, Full of Grace

HM: The Visitor, Moscow on the Hudson (a under-appreciated Robin Williams vehicle).

There are a few I really should see, though, like Gangs of New York and Heaven's Gate.

West Side Story!  Goodbye Solo!  I didn't think of those.  Great choices.  Goodbye Solo might crack my top 5...

Gangs of New York is not very good. There, it's been mentioned.

Yes, Gangs of New York isn't as good as An American Tail.

I mentioned that I hadn't seen it yet.  Doesn't that count? ;)
