To be fair, I rewatched Commingled Containers. Then I read Martin's review, and the two brought it all back to me. Time has not softened my opinion of Brakhage.

I do wonder... When a movie goes to a dance club and the time period is the late 60s/early 70s, it's common to have some kind of acid trip, kaleidoscope visuals projected on the walls. Is that Brakhage influenced, perhaps using actual Brakhage shorts or the filmmakers creating their own freak-out in the Brakhage style?

Costa-Gavras Ranked List
★ ★ ½: #276 out of 427
I'm going to be watching two from early in his career.
The Sleeping Car Murder (1965)
The Confession (1970)

I was planning to continue this along with Shocktober. I watched the first film a week ago, but trying to power through The Confession today, I knew I wasn't being fair. Felt like I had homework to do while everyone else was outside playing. Looking ahead to the next director, there were a couple of thrillers to consider, but still I'd rather be attending to my Shocktober Watchlist. So I'm hitting the pause button.

That image isn't loading for me, but I'm excited to see a post here.

edit: Ah, it's a video. imgur videos don't seem to be compatible with img tags, alas.

Is it an image? Or is 1SO just channeling his inner-Godard and seeing if we're paying attention?

When a problem comes along,
you must gif it!
Before the vid sits out too long,

Now gif it,

1SO vs. All the Directors - Guy Hamilton
« Reply #998 on: January 17, 2022, 02:57:30 PM »
Guy Hamilton Ranked List
★ ★ ½: #303 out of 428
I knew Hamilton as the director of James Bond films. Even when he would get away from Bond, publicity would emphasize this guy made Bond exciting and cool. Most of what I've seen would be heavily tinged by the nostalgia of a teenager discovering movies. I watched Force 10 from Navarone every time it was on HBO, and I don't care to look back and see if it holds up. I also know Remo Williams has Joel Grey heavily made up as an Asian, so I'll stick with my happy memories of that one.

3 of my Top 4 were first watched in the last 10 years, the 4th being a rewatch of Agatha Christie's Evil Under the Sun, which I showed to Mrs. 1SO, kicking off our Poirot lovefest. So, even though I think of Hamilton as an efficient journeyman, I'm optimistic about my options.

LIKELY:
The Ringer (1952): based on the Edgar Wallace story I discovered last year.
The Colditz Story (1955): Antares' top pick

MAYBE:
The Intruder (1953)
Funeral in Berlin (1966): The Harry Palmer spy trilogy has been on my watchlist. This is the middle film, but I may watch all three.

He directed 3 of the better Bond films and one of the worst. I haven't seen his other films.
