For what it is worth, I don't think it will really matter. Like Marvel and the later Potter movies Im sure these will be well produced and well thought through, but with little interesting personal touch. Some Joe Competent will direct each movie and they will all be a fun 2 hrs. Id be surprised to see anything terrible or great.

what does a Tsai lightsaber fight look like?

Probably everyone dressed like lobsters while a Grace Chang song plays.

HOW DO YOU NOT WANT THIS?

Where is the "it doesn't matter, the director isn't the author of those movies anyway" option ?

Don't know why you slanted the poll against Lucas. I'd be all for him directing a SW film, particularly if he didn't write it. It's his sandbox and I would hope there's an open invitation if he wants to tell a story in it.

George Lucas is a terrible director. Not only is he an abysmal writer, but when his actors tried to talk to him about their lines he either failed to listen to them or failed to recognise they were right. Then he doubled down by demonstrating a complete inability to direct his actors and the words he had written himself. He has little to no visual style and is only able to introduce meaning through visual symbolism in his more grandiose shots.

Wow, so you're throwing pretty much every single STAR WARS film (which also includes the original trilogy since he wrote it) and his best directed films (THX 1138, AMERICAN GRAFFITI, A NEW HOPE, & REVENGE OF THE SITH) under the bus with this incredibly reductive, blanket statement.

I wish you included Ang Lee. He actually would probably be the most perfect director for a Star Wars film.

I don't include the non-SW movies in the statement but I stand by it for the ones I have seen, and I don't see how it is blanket. There are awful instances of line delivery in everyone of his SW movies. Same for all the other points I made. As for pretty much every SW made, he only directed four of them, which is now less than half, and as for writing the two first trilogies, dialogue has always been the main flaw of the series.

Maybe it would be more accurate to say he does but it is not a very good one.

Added. What's your rationale?

80's Spielberg - Would love to see him take a swing at another adventure blockbuster. Crystal Skull tho...

90's Bigelow - Point Break era. All her stuff is so effing serious and dour now.

Whedon - I liked Avengers and Buffy. He certainly seems capable of pulling off the action, humor, and drama.
