#651: American Made / Top 5 Tom Cruise Performances
« on: September 29, 2017, 05:47:24 PM »
Tom Cruise has been cranking out high-profile motion pictures at the rate of one a year for over three decades now. His latest is AMERICAN MADE, with Cruise as an ‘80s-era pilot who ends up working for the CIA - and a Columbian drug cartel. Adam and Josh are positive on the Doug Liman-directed film and consider Cruise’s long, impressive career with their Top 5 Cruise Performances.

Sorely disappointed that Tom Cruise's performance in INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE didn't make either list. It's such a wild, crazy, balls-to-the-wall performance that suggests that he could've had a totally different career as a character actor if he wanted it. Les Grossman may be the only other time. Perhaps when he gets into his later years, he will choose more eccentric supporting roles. I would argue he shines even more in those kind of roles than when he leads.

But, just checking - you did hear that this got love and that I haven't seen it?

I shut off the podcast too early, enraged by the exclusion! BUT. NOW THAT I HEAR IT... You need to see that movie! Seriously! Just for that performance! For shame, Adam!  :P

I saw THE COLOR OF MONEY recently and while I enjoy Cruise in it, Ben Stiller's own parody of it (THE HUSTLER OF MONEY) is better:
