I watch one of his specials and a few jokes landed. I think I like him in small doses.

Curious what people think are the best stand up specials are because I honestly have never gotten deep into the scene.

I just saw John Mulaney earlier this week. It was the best stand up I've seen in person or on TV. He's one of the best going. Any of his specials are worth a watch.

Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson have the best stand up comedy podcast: 2 Dope Queens.
Brian Regan is always funny.
Maria Bamford is a genius.
Ron Funches is super great.
Hannibal Burress is amazing.

I honestly have too many favorites to list. My current favorite is probably John Mulaney. Aparna Nancherla is someone I'm really excited to hear more from.

It's all so subjective that throwing out recommendations wouldn't be advisable without knowing more about what you already like. I haven't heard enough Bo Burnham to have an opinion on him.

A few of the ones that smirnoff has in his "not for me" list were among my favorites recently:

Trevor Noah: Afraid of the Dark
Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King
Mike Birbiglia: Thank God for Jokes

In fact, I haven't heard a set by Birbiglia that I haven't loved.  His two films were okay, but his stand up is stellar.

I'll have to see about watching your top three.
