4 of those films are from 2016

Which do you mean? I watched them all last year (feels weird to say that).

I strongly adhere to the rule that the year when a film is first available to me, it becomes eligible for my year end film list.

According to your Letterboxd list, Handmaiden, Your Name, Their Finest and 20th Century Women are listed as 2016, but I agree with Sam and this will always be a problem. My own list has Their Finest and The Girl With All the Gifts. I am withholding Paddington 2 from my list even though I know it's been released in the UK because I went to a sneak screening for its eventual release in January in the US.

I don't know what to do about The Drummer and the Keeper, which is in my Top 10. I saw it on an Aer Lingus flight and it's only been released in Ireland with no plans to open anywhere else.

I'm most definitely counting Your Name as 2017, I don't think it played the US at all until last year.

Anyway, I've been eyeing Marjorie Prime for a bit, but never had a reason to jump in outside of wanting to watch Hamm, but perhaps I'll give it a go. Really need to try and squeeze in Lady Macbeth as well.

20th Century Women was mostly released in 2017 in the US I think. The 2016 date must be an early release. Your Name. was basically only available in Japan in 2016 and I watched the other two in late Spring. I don't like the date problem, but doing it this way is better than excluding the movies from Top lists.

I don't know how I shall count Lady Bird et all. though. Last year we had much more time before voting, so that was less of a problem, as my filmspots list is the final version.

Your Name came out in December 2016 in France, but I don't know that it matters. American critics don't seem to be too bothered with international release dates generally.

I actually watched it in France but in February. It was never released here at all so I am making this up as I go along.

I don't want to strike Mrs. Macbeth off. Send help.

So you decided to kick out Lady Macbeth, but put in LEGO Batman. That hurts.

TLB is all one big laughterfest that kept me thoroughly entertained for its running time. LM has moments of greatness, but the overall experience is less enthusiasming, even if that is not a word according to Chrome. Maybe with an extra murder it would have made the cut...

3.   The Lost City of Z (James Gray, 2016)
6.   Good Time (Safdie Brothers, 2017)

GT is a divisive movie, but I cannot think of anyone else who loves Z like that.
