This thread is spooky.  I don't remember starting this thread.  But I'm glad it exists.  At the same time, I wonder if I drank too much last night.

Relax, oldkid, you're fine.

You didn't start it, I did but with your post from Random Thoughts etc thread because I thought it was a neat idea for a thread. Thanks!

"I'm walking here!" is very useful around my little town with all the crosswalks for pedestrians. Said with anger as Ratso in Midnight Cowboy.

I try to use movie quotes in life but no one ever gets them. I've lived in countries where people are completely movie oblivious (jdc can back me up). Even the educated ones wouldn't get a The Godfather, Casablanca or Die Hard reference. When I worked with Frenchmen they would quote a few movies and TV shoes all the time so I got into that. Most of the time though, I am just the movie nerd of the group.

I was actually told by a superior to stop quoting things once because it made my coworkers uncomfortable. Apparently I was making some of them feel dumb and some others would find me weird.

(This was not SG, although there my boss told me to stop being sarcastic around locals.)

Didn't you ask them to look at your username?

"That's not how The Force works."

I've heard this one frequently two ways. If the speaker thinks the listener(s) won't get the reference they will replace "The Force" with whatever is being discussed.
"That's not how the shopping works."/"That's not how children work."
The tone of the delivery tips off that it's based on the Force Awakens line.

If the speaker thinks the listener(s) WILL get the reference they will say the exact quote, knowing the listeners can make the replacement themselves.
"Donald Trump is going to ignore the subpoena."
"That's not how The Force works."

This quote has been replaced around the apartment by "The bunny gets the pancake." It's a cute way of saying "the answer is so obvious you can probably figure it out for yourself."
